Mary-Jane attends the St. George Legion Branch 605 100th Anniversary and Mural Ceremony!
I attended the St. George Legion Branch 605 100th Anniversary and Mural Ceremony. It was attended by many local leaders – Mayor David Bailey, Councillors for Ward 1 – Jennifer Kyle and John MacAlpine, Will Bouma, MPP for Brantford-Brant, and Dan Muys MP for Flamborough-Glanbrook Brant North. It was a lovely ceremony honouring the Anniversary and the distinctive mural painted by Tim Nijenhuis, who also attended and provided remarks.
The Legion has been a place of “safety and healing”, as one of the speakers stated, providing services to returning veterans for years. It provides many opportunities to meet neighbours, county residents, and attend regular monthly dinners and events like card games.
As part of my platform to meaningfully engage Ward 1 residents more in their local community, it’s a great place to start meeting others who may have similar concerns regarding Brant County.
